Whether you are getting BOTOX or JUVÉDERM, you will be asked to make a number of facial expressions using the upper face, like frowning, squinting, smiling, etc., which will help us to see where the injections are to be placed.

If you are receiving BOTOX, your face will be prepared and then the BOTOX will be injected with a fine needle, followed with a cool compress to help prevent bruising, swelling, and discomfort. You can ask for a numbing cream to make the procedure more comfortable, but it usually is not necessary. BOTOX treatments typically take around 10 – 15 minutes.

If you are receiving JUVÉDERM treatments, you may ask for a local anesthesia, however, there is a numbing solution in the JUVÉDERM filler. The filler will be injected, followed by light pressure and cooling ointment after each injection. This process typically takes between 15 – 30 minutes. 

After either treatment, you are allowed to resume your daily activities, but strenuous exercise should be avoided for at least a day. You will be asked to sleep with your head propped up for the first night and to avoid touching your face. The treated sections of the face may appear red, bruised, or swollen for a couple of days, but you will not experience any serious or lasting side effects. In the majority of cases, it takes around 3 – 4 days before the final BOTOX effects can be seen and 5 – 7 days for JUVÉDERM. JUVÉDERM results usually last 3 – 4 months while BOTOX could last up to 3 – 6 months. Follow-up appointments can be scheduled to extend the life of your results.
